This is the journey for travellers who want to go further. We start with the icons — Delhi, the Pink City of Jaipur, the Taj Mahal and sacred Varanasi — and then keep going east, where almost no group tours reach.
Through Kolkata, the City of Joy, up into the tea-clad hills of Darjeeling with its UNESCO toy train and dawn views of Kanchenjunga, and on into Sikkim: Pelling, Yuksom and Gangtok, a world of Buddhist monasteries, prayer flags and Himalayan air — before winding back down through Kalimpong.
